6. Cooking and Baking

Coconut oil is extensively used as a cooking ingredient in many countries. The “virgin” coconut oil, or VCO, has become very popular because of its slightly sweetish and nutty flavor. This feature has made the oil very popular during the production of baked products and confectionery as pastries and cakes. Many people are also substituting coconut oil for butter, shortening, and other saturated oils.
