6. Oats
About one pound of oats costs a dollar, which is good enough for a week’s worth of morning snack. Oats are very good source of fiber that can lower cholesterol. Tired of the usual oatmeal? Substitute it for flour when baking oatmeal cookies or you can even use it as breadcrumbs. For breakfast, top your oatmeal with berries, sliced apples, almonds or dried fruit and drizzle it with honey.
