The Fitbit rage has taken everyone by storm for the past year and has continued to grow in popularity. Take a peek at the current fashion accessory that’s helping a lot of people lose weight.

The Fitbit

Priced at $60. This is an easy-to-wear, small pedometer that you can sync with any web based dashboard or smartphone. With fitness trackers rising in popularity, people are more aware of how their daily habits affect their overall health. The Fitibit does not only lets you conveniently track your fitness, but it also allows you to compete with friends, and bring everyday fitness to your life. Surprisingly, you are going to find yourself parking away and opting for the stairs! Having that extra activity can make you relish that two-pounder burger… guilt free!

The Fitbit tracker allows you to track how many steps you have taken, the distance you walked, floors climbed, activity duration and calories burned. And a lot of people have praised this device since its initial released last 2008. Since it was a hit, other companies have created their own versions of trackers. The ZIP Wireless Activity Tracker and the Wireless Activity & Sleep Tracker.

The Zip

This device can also track distance, calories burned and can be synced through Bluetooth 4.0 directly to your smartphone or computer, and you can also make use of a USB dongle. The gadget is at 1.4 x 1.1 x 3.8 inches, which is like a piece of Godiva chocolate, and it comes in different colors like black, white, royal blue and pink. The device has a rubber holder with a clip so you can attach it to clothing or undergarments if you want to hide it. Plus, the device is also splash and water-proof.

The Zip has a smiley face that gets happier the more active or in motion you are, it is a kind of motivation that will keep you on going. The memory of the gadget clears out every midnight but the data are saved in your FitBit.com account so you can still track and assess your progress anytime.

And as for Fitbit One, it is the same as the Zip but with some additional perks. It can track stairs climbed, it also has sleep tracking abilities and has a silent alarm that can vibrate to wake you. It can also sync your data wirelessly.

If you want to go all out, try Fitibit’s Aria Wi-Fi Smart Scale that has the capability to measure weight, percentage of fat, body mass index, and also helps keeping track your food intake. The Smart Scale can track even up to 8 users. When purchased, it comes with a free smartphone app for iPhone and Android, which makes weight progress readily available in the app.

Not like Motorola’s MOTOACTV or Nike+Fuelband, the FitBit can be easily concealed. They are like wristwatches, meaning they can tell time aside from keeping track on your steps and calories burned.

A recent study hinted that activity trackers might help people lose weight:

197 overweight or obese middle-aged adults were enrolled in a weight-loss program for nine months. 50 received only a weight-loss manual (they were the control group), 49 got the manual plus an activity tracker to wear, 49 got the manual plus counseling sessions but no tracker, and 49 got the manual, the counseling, and the tracker.
