Ever stop to consider think there might actually be a reason as to why running is so loved? New forms of exercise are one of the few activities one should allow themselves to be pressured into. Positives outweigh the negatives in this case, as the benefits of running are many and the utmost worst that could happen is you not enjoying your jog.
Do the following 4 steps before you head out the door on your first run and I’ll guarantee you won’t look back.
1. Do Your Research
Pool the resources available to you and do some reading. From books, to blogs, to websites, to newsletters, to social media posts- the amount of information out there is astounding. You can find out equipment you’ll need, hints and tips from well seasoned runners, and even your favorite celebs running playlists. One of my favorite books of all time is “Born To Run” by Christopher McDougall. I had just come back from a sweaty 6 miler when I opened the pages to this beauty. I read 2 chapters of McDougall’s informative and comical writing style and before I knew it found myself heading back out the door for another 4 miles. Motivation is everywhere and when you start something new there is nothing wrong with seeking great to seek inspiration from experienced sources.
