2. Herbal Dry Cough Syrup (12 months and up)
In one and a half cups of water, add a teaspoon of each of the following: thyme leaves, horehound, rose hips, licorice root, mullein leaves, lemon balm leaves and marshmallow root. In a saucepan, bring the water and herbs into a boil. Then remove saucepan from the heat, cover it and let it steep for thirty minutes. Then strain out the herbs. Return the saucepan to heat and simmer to reduce the liquid to a cup. Add a cup of honey, organic fruit syrup or brown rice syrup and one-fourth cup of vegetable glycerin while the mixture is warm. Let it cool down; place it in a jar with a lid and then stock in the refrigerator. This mixture can last for two months once refrigerated.
For every four hours, give a teaspoon for a 50-pound child, two teaspoons for a 75-pound child and a tablespoon for a 100-pound child or adult.
